A third time drink driver from Falmouth was banned from driving for five years by Truro District Judge Kevin Gray after he admitted his latest offence.
Waine Steven Watkins, aged 37, of Marlborough Road, pleaded guilty to driving over the limit on July 11 when he tested at 92 mcg in breath, more than twice the permitted level.
Alison May, for the CPS, said that Watkins had two previous convictions for a similar offence within the past nine years.
Watkins apologised for his driving. He said his mother had died from cancer last month and his brother had died in South Africa this month.
“I had not had a drink prior to this for ten months but did not see a way out. My father phoned up and I needed to go and see him rather than sitting in a pub,” he said.
Watkins was told to do 120 hours of unpaid work, pay £145 costs and surcharge and was banned for five years and until he passes another driving test.
