HELSTON Town Band made good use of the sunny weather recently by hosting its summer fete.
The day went “really well” according to Graham Carter, representative for the town band.
Members ran stalls, with “fantastic weather” enjoyed and more than £1,200 raised.
“We couldn't have wished for better,” added Mr Carter.
The day was opened by Tiffany Truscott of BBC Radio Cornwall, followed by lifting pieces played by the various members of the town band.
The beginners' band, conducted by Nathan Tootill, played several pieces that “went down well with the parents.” Following them were the brass performers, led by Ian Harvey, who played lively music that the spectators enjoyed. Finally, the senior town band played, under new musical director Darren Hendy, and performed “brilliantly as always” according to Mr Carter.
The band is preparing to play another concert soon, at the Lismore Proms on Saturday, August 23 at Lismore Gardens, Helston, which begins at 7.30pm.
