Pupils at Marlborough School were digging in as they enjoyed a barbecue and outdoor activities as part of a day of learning in the natural environment (LINE).

During the school's third LINE day, the children were sent out to forage for food, such as nettles and nasturtiums, which was used in the preparation of their lunch by new school chef Jess Elton.

They also built both miniature and full size dens, and took part in wood working classes, and had fun playing with pipes to channel water in a variety of different ways They were also visited by Ecological Surveys Limited who brought a wide range of animals from guinea pigs and chickens to snakes, lizards, bats and invertebrates.

Headteacher Richard Gambier said: “We had a great day and wonderful weather to celebrate the end of our first year working with the LINE project.

“We've developed some of the areas of working outside, and ways of working with children to work and play outside and reconnect them with nature.”
