St Keverne Parish Hall needs to find an extra £35,000 so that essential repairs can be carried out.

Having opened in 1979, major refurbishments are needed, including a new energy efficient roof and modern heating system.

Chairman of the hall trustees, Anthony, Richards said that £15,000 had so far been raised for various sources, out of a total of about £50,000 – but the major expenditure was for the roof.

The trustees are now in the process of raising funds for the refurbishment of the hall, which is a registered charity and run entirely by volunteers.

Fundraising events are planned for the coming months and public support has been described as “essential” to enable any grant applications to succeed.

Donation boxes will also be scattered around the area.

It is hoped that the work will be finished by the New Year.

Mr Richards added that St Keverne was “very fortunate in having such a facility”, which is the biggest in the area, catering for a wide range of activities including wedding, concerts and large parties.

He thanked all the hall users for their continued support.
