A Brazilian theme has been chosen for this year's Truro City Carnival on Saturday, July 12.

Organsiers say that the event will be bigger, better and more community based than recent years, with a new committee made up of local business people, community workers, dance leaders, previous committee members and Truro residents having worked hard to make it a procession to remember.

The theme is Brazil, but entrants can take part in whatever guise they wish to as long as its colourful and exciting to watch.

Entrants must have returned their application forms to the committee by the end of June to allow time to get the whole thing nicely organised.

All children taking part will get a little momento, with local schools having been sent an application form in the hope that as many as possible will take part.

The procession will start and end at Hendra Park, with it kicking off at 6pm before winding its way through the town.

There will also be a fun day taking part on the field at Hendra in partnership with Mount Hawke Skate Park. Ciaran Ryder said “Mount Hawke Skatepark will be holding an Open Jam at Hendra invitation to everyone of all abilities on skateboards ,BMX bikes and scooters. There will be prizes and give a ways galore and a chance to ride with sponsored riders both at the Park and in the procession."

Other events on the day include art workshops by local street artist Cosmic , football skills competition with Plymouth Argyle , bouncy play area to burn off energy and street food with Nomad catering.

Dbs Music will provide the soundtrack of the day along with several local bands”

Anyone who would like to have a stall/trade on the field should contact info@mounthawke.com Alongside this we will also be holding a dance off organised by Hayley Care a local dance and fitness instructor.
