The second councillor surgery in Penryn, held on Monday, proved more popular than the first effort in March, with town mayor Gill Grant meeting two residents with issues to be raised.
Concerns were raised over the provision of parking, and the impact of multiple occupancy residencies housing students and others without providing off-street space for cars. Mrs Grant said she would discuss the matter with the Penryn campus’ public engagement manager Jilly Easterby.
Mrs Grant also heard complaints about traffic, usually cyclists, travelling the wrong way along St Thomas Street, which she said she would discuss with local PCSO Lewis Vague.
Another complaint was dog fouling, which it was agreed is a big problem for the town, and the mayor said she would like to have a crackdown on dog owners who let their pets leave a mess. It would be one of the issues focused on during a Clean Up Penryn campaign the council hopes to run later in the year.
