A group of enthusiastic performers are preparing to stage the Mawnan Musical Extravaganza which features excerpts from a number of popular musicals and will raise money for charity.

The show will be held at Mawnan Memorial Hall next Friday and Saturday, May 9 and 10, with a recreation of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang taking centre stage for part of the performance.

The famous flying car will provide the back drop for the songs Truly Scrumptious, Hush A Bye Mountain, Posh and, of course, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. There will also be songs from Jungle Book, Bambi, Porgy and Bess, Oklahoma, Pyjama Game and My Fair Lady, among others.

Performing on stage will be Benita Payne, Evie Payne, David Smith, Fiona Beaumont, Maureen Bate, Sharon Hicks, Ron Smith, Dianne Webster, Pat Kirkham, Marion Collins, Eliza Benny, Kieran Jacobs, Lauren Hooper, Matthew Hooper, George Harvey, Dylan French, Isabelle French, Tallula Peters, Lilly Pinkney and members of Victoria’s Dance Academy.

Proceeds from the shows will go to Global Natural Healthcare Trust (GNHCT), which aims to meet the needs of general medical patients and those affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa, including 13,000 children made orphans by the disease.
