Firefighers from Falmouth were called to a fire in a large machine at Pendennis shipyard this morning.
Two pumping appliances from Falmouth attended, with crews using four breathing apparatus, two hose reels and one jet to extinguish the accidental fire.
Mike Carr, managing director at Pendennis, sad: "We can confirm that the fire brigade were called to a waste compactor fire on site this morning, the situation was quickly brought under control with no danger to life or damage to yard equipment.
"We would like to thank the fire service for their speedy response in helping us deal with the situation."
