Youngsters from Helston were among 270 Army Cadets from across the county who undertook two days of syllabus training at RAF St Mawgan.

On the weekend’s final parade the Platoon Commander of the Helston Army Cadets, Adult Instructor Paige Povey was promoted to Colour Sergeant by the Commandant Colonel Les Donnithorne.

Paige, who lives in Falmouth, had joined as a cadet and progressed to become a Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadet to Lady Mary Holborow for the year in 2009 and during her duties met many of the Royal family.

As a hobby, Paige is a 2nd Degree black belt in Taekwondo and recently attended an |international event in Canada and achieved silver. She is currently ranked number one in the country in the adult hyper-weight female sparring.

Paige will have the opportunity to attend the next Taekwondo world stage event in Sardinia next summer.
