New homes on Penryn industrial estate are approved
6:00am Monday 21st October 2013 in Cornwall
Planning permission has been granted for four town houses to be built on land at the West End Industrial Estate in Penryn despite some objections.
Concerns had been raised over the density and design of the proposed development.
Simon Holden said: “Whilst I reluctantly accept the loss of industrial land within a thriving industrial estate, I feel that cramming four units within such a small space is an over-development; there will be little outside space for the potential residents to enjoy.”
Jane Morgan also said: “We reluctantly accept that this site on the West End Industrial Estate can now be built on for residential purposes, but object to the detailed plans for four slate clad town houses and fear that an opportunity to build sympathetically and even enhance the area will be lost.”
The application had however been conditionally supported by Penryn Town Council and has now been approved under delegated powers by Cornwall Council.
