Falmouth firefighters ready for fireworks spectacular on Bonfire Night
9:00am Tuesday 5th November 2013 in Cornwall
Falmouth firefighters will once again be lighting up the skies as they stage their annual firework display at the town’s cricket ground off Trescobeas Road tonight.
Organised by the Falmouth Firefighters Social and Welfare Club and members of Falmouth Cricket Club, gates will open at 6pm for a 7pm start when £7,000 worth of fireworks will be let off to music.
“This is guaranteed to be one of the largest displays in the county with a very explosive line-up of fireworks,” said firefighter and show organiser Giles Kent.
“This is the largest and most expensive display we have put on. I would encourage people to get there in good time as huge crowds arriving at 7pm make it very difficult for us to get everyone in the ground on time.”
As well as the fireworks, there will be refreshments on sale including hotdogs, burgers, a hog roast and doughnuts. There will also be a children’s fairground ride. Entry price remains at £4 for adults and £2 for children.
Local charities and bonafide good causes are invited to apply to be considered for a share of the proceeds from this community event. A small proportion of the proceeds will go to support the activities of the Social and Welfare Club, including the costs of staging the display.
Applications from community groups and charities are invited in writing and should be sent to the Social and Welfare Club at Falmouth Fire Station, Trescobeas Road.
