Royal guest for Falmouth's Greenbank Hotel
4:10pm Tuesday 15th October 2013 in Cornwall
The Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth welcomed HRH Princess Anne last week for a rare overnight stay.
Her visit to Falmouth was due to a special gala dinner at the National Maritime Museum Cornwall, which managed to raise £80,000.
The Greenbank, which was announced as a finalist in the 'Large hotel of the Year' catagory in the Cornwall Tourism awards this week, has been host many other famous visitors over the years, from Florence Nightingale to Eric Clapton and Kenneth Graham, writer of Wind in the Willows.
Manager, Sophie Colston, said: “It was a real privilege to meet HRH the Princess Royal and a great morale boost for our team. Her Royal Highness spoke to me the next morning when I delivered breakfast to her room and she said she had really enjoyed her stay with us”.
Operations director at the hotel, Kearan McVey, said:"Having the Princess Royal stay with us in the same week is a tremendous honour for both the hotel and Falmouth and I’m extremely proud of the entire Greenbank team."
