Free event to celebrate opening of Falmouth mountain bike track
10:00am Tuesday 15th October 2013 in Cornwall
Everyone is being invited to a free Falmouth 4X mountain bike open day next Saturday to celebrate the opening of new cycle track at Pennance Mill Farm and Caravan Park.
Organised by Carrick Riders the event takes place on Saturday, October 19 between 10am and 4pm at the track on the road to Maenporth.
The day will include something for the whole family to enjoy with local rock band Shameless playing from 12pm backed up by a good hog roast and BBQ.
The 4X track will be open free for people to try their own bikes or one of the demo bikes that are on hand.
Free coaching will also be available from qualified instructors.
The event will be set up as a cycle show with companies attending like: Intense, Felt, Transition, Saracen and many more.
These suppliers will be showcasing their 2014 products offering deals and a chance to ride their new bikes.
This is also an opportunity for Carrick Riders to tell the special story about the new Falmouth 4X track. It cost the club over £5,000 to build the track.
The funding was achieved through the generosity and foresight of small and large businesses and individuals who put their hands in their pockets to sponsor the new track.
These include Falmouth Diesels, Millers Garage, The Sign Shop, Sessions Surf Shop, Asda Kernow Adventure, Champion, SW Glass and Glazing, Falmouth Cycles, Pennance Mill Farm, Transition, Independent, Green River Canvas, Tom Fisher, Absolute Canvas, Premier Tiles, Euronics, Gearbox Centre and Wallwork Family.
Carrick Riders has a strong core membership who have also worked tirelessly to finish the track - great credit must go to them also!
The group says the Falmouth 4X is one of the best tracks in the country and is the only one in Cornwall.
In April this year the track hosted round two of the National 4X series. It attracted over 120 riders including the national champion and the world champion. In July 2014 the riders have been asked to host the National 4X Championship, this is the most important date in the 4X calendar.
