Flooding at the Prince of Wales Pier: PICTURES
4:20pm Monday 9th September 2013 in Cornwall
The area around the Prince of Wales Pier was hit by flash flooding on Friday. Roads were also closed as torrential rain hit the town.
Coastguards were called into action to cordon off parts of Falmouth on Friday afternoon after torrential rain caused drains to burst and some roads to flood.
Badly affected was Melvill Road, where heavy rain dislodged a manhole cover and part of the road disappeared under six inches of muddy water. Traffic was diverted onto Cliff Road, which itself was flooded in some areas.

Parts of Falmouth also looked like deepest winter after a freak hail storm.
Tommy Matthews said that the hail was heavy enough in the The Gluyas to set car alarms off.
He said: "It made a mess of some pot plants and gave the roof a good clean from the moss. Set car alarms off and my neighbour thought her conservatory was close to caving in from the relentless hammering."
The hail storm at Diana Close at about 5pm.
