FALMOUTH Art Gallery launched the first ever Incredible Edible Art Week in the country recently when families were invited to make a piece of artwork, which they could take home and eat.
The week began with the Fill Your Face workshop where participants were encouraged to make a face on a digestive biscuit, using edible pens and sprinkles.
On the Thursday, the Courtyard Deli donated tray bake cakes to be painted on using edible inks and the week culminated with two workshops with the pink-haired Sally Crabtree.
Mums, dads, brothers, sisters, boyfriends and girlfriends wrote poems on cupcakes, performed them on a plinth and then ate their poem to discover a hidden treasure. The week was full of surprises, tasting popping candy, fizzy sweets and wordy icing.
Charlotte Davis, the gallery’s access and interpretation manager, said: “We had an absolute blast making edible artwork with families. It was so wonderful to see families giggling and enjoying making artwork inspired by the faces on display in the gallery. This has been a massive success and we hope to run similar workshops in the future.”
Family drop-in workshops are held at the gallery every Saturday afternoon between 2pm and 3pm and admission is free. The gallery is open Monday to Saturday, 10am to 5 pm. For more details about workshops and events please contact the gallery on 01326 313863 or email info@falmouthartgallery.com.
