Dragon Boats take to the water: PICTURE GALLERY
11:00am Sunday 25th August 2013 in Cornwall
Technical problems meant Falmouth’s much anticipated Dragon Boat racing was curtailed to just one day, but participants and spectators combined to create a winning atmosphere.
Thirteen teams battled it out on the water on Sunday, all vying for the top trophy which eventually went to a team from Kemp Engineering in Redruth.
Second place went to Team Wolf, from Beerwolf Books in Falmouth; third place to Team Sonic, from Richfords and fourth place to Berry Recruitment.
Organiser Mike Lanyon said: “It was absolutely brilliant. The teams we had on the water were fantastic, we had brilliant weather and we had a fantastic crowd of spectators who stayed with us the whole day.
“It was our 20th anniversary this year – the Falmouth event is the longest running established Dragon Boat event in the UK. We are coming of age next year and if half the plans I have got at the moment come off, it will be a real cracker.”
