Racers take to the water for Trident Swimming Challenge this evening
11:00am Saturday 17th August 2013 in Cornwall
Swimmers will take to the water at Gyllyngvase Beach this evening (Saturday) to take part in the Trident Challenge race.
The event is set to start at 7pm, with registration from 4.30pm, with swimmers racing a 800metre course.
The event was set up by two Falmouth Firefighters in 2006, Martyn Addinall and Grant Nicholls, who had the idea of recreating a swimming race as part of Falmouth week.
The numbers of competitors has steadily increased ever since and the event raises funds for The Fire Fighters Charity, Cancer Research UK and Surf Lifesaving GB, with over £3,000 raised so far.
