Young boxers across Falmouth and Penryn could soon be without a home after an eviction notice was served to their club by a secondary school.
Falmouth and Penryn Amateur Boxing Club have been given just a “couple of weeks” to move out of Falmouth School, their home for the past three years, according to Chris Martin from the club.
“We have got nowhere to go,” he said, “it’s just come out of the blue.”
“The new season starts in September and we have got all these youngsters and adults and all of this equipment with nowhere to go.”
He can think of no reason why the school would want to oust the boxing club, insisting that they have “always paid up on time” and provide an extra-curricular activity for children at the school.
The club, which has seen a run of success lately, moved into Falmouth School in 2010 following several years of fundraising for equipment.
Falmouth School were not available for comment on the alleged eviction at the time of going to press.
