It is Friday and while it is still hot, hot, hot out there, take a moment to have a quick run through what has been making the headlines this week.

A deal between the NHS and Falmouth School over the future of the Budock Hospital site is one step closer after the sale was "agreed in principle".

Falmouth School want to sell their playing fields at Union Corner and use the proceeds to buy the hospital site from the NHS, and use the remaining funds to construct an all-weather sports facility for the use of the school and the whole community. Read the story here.

A Falmouth man claiming disability allowances, who said he needed someone to keep an eye on him seven days a week because he could not get out of a seat unaided, could not attend to his own personal hygiene, cooking or feeding, was then seen playing golf and ten pin bowling and working as a taxi driver. It has been hard to miss! The largest privately owned resident yacht on earth has returned to Falmouth. The World, which boasts 165 luxury residences on board, has spent the past few months cruising the entire Norwegian coastline up to Kirkenes on the Norway/Russia border, around the Scottish islands and the west coast of Ireland. Pasty drive through plan turns out to have been half baked. Developers hoping to create Cornwall’s first ‘pasty drive-thru’ in Helston have withdrawn their plans and put the site up for sale. Helston Pasty Co Ltd had applied for permission to turn the former Hilltop Garage at the top of Sithney Common Hill into a pasty takeaway and shop in which to sell other Cornish produce. But for Helston pupils the fact that a 11th hour discovery means their £10 million college edevelopment has no funding is a bitter pill to swallow. Staff have been left “deeply distressed” and governors “totally let down” . We would all love a holiday home in a sunny patch of heaven, but for a Marazion husband and wife have admitted housing benefit, council tax benefit and income support fraud totalling £22,188.04, and fraud, after failing to disclose to Cornwall Council that they owned a property in Spain. The beach can be a dangerous place, so it is good to have some good news as the RNLI say that a two-year-old toddler found face down in a rock pool at a Cornish beach is expected to recover. Lifeguards at Whitsand Bay raced to help the unconscious toddler after he was pulled from the water by his mother on Monday afternoon. Last and certainly not least, with temperatures set to soar again tomorrow, the Met Office says the West of England will be the hottest part of the country and a 'heatwave' warning will stay in place until Saturday. While it will becoming less hot for a time over the weekend, rising temperatures early next week will see roasting weather return. Yipee i say!. Read the story here
