UPDATE: The police officer found dead in a car in the Hornick Hill area of St Austell has been named as Gail Crocker.
The mother-of-two from St Stephen was a serving police constable in Bodmin, and has been a PCSO in Truro.
Her family have been informed.
UPDATE: Police have confirmed that the body of the woman found on Saturday morning was that of a 46-year-old serving Devon and Cornwall police officer.
A woman's body has been found in a car in the Hornick Hill area of St Austell.
A police spokesman said that at around 09.15am on Saturday police were called to the Hornick Hill area after concern was expressed for the welfare of a 47 year local woman.
The spokesman said: "On arrival, officers found a woman’s body in a car. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances at this time."
