A team of six Helston firefighters were scrambled to a car on fire on the B3297 near Poldark Mine today.

Several 999 calls had been received and the car was well alight when the crew arrived, just before 12pm.

Firefighters donned breathing masks and used two hoses extinguish the flames.

The cause of the fire was "accidental" according to Jenna Gendall from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service.
