Truro Tesco has celebrated its recent re-launch with a £500 donation to the Truro Foodbank, and a planned visit from Peppa Pig today.
The Tesco store, based at Garras Wharf, has undergone a major makeover and store manager Stuart Bourn and his team held a special re-launch ceremony, with Bob Girvan and Doreen Henderson from Truro Foodbank invited to receive the donation and cut a ribbon to declare the store officially re-launched.
Store manager Stuart said: “I am delighted Bob and Doreen were able to visit our improved store to receive the donation. The Foodbank is a greatly important to the community and does fantastic work for local people.”
Bob added: “We are incredibly grateful for Tesco’s generous donation to our cause, the donation is greatly appreciated and will go towards a new van to assist us in moving our food to the different distribution centres we have in Truro and Perranporth.”
The Truro Foodbank is part of a national campaign and provides a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis.
The celebrations will continue in store next weekend when children’s favourite Peppa Pig will be making a special appearance in store on Saturday at regular intervals between 11am and 4pm.
The stores opening hours are now 6am Monday –Midnight Saturday and 10am-4pm on a Sunday.
