Truro Tesco has celebrated its recent re-launch with a £500 donation to the Truro Foodbank, and a planned visit from Peppa Pig today.

The Tesco store, based at Garras Wharf, has undergone a major makeover and store manager Stuart Bourn and his team held a special re-launch ceremony, with Bob Girvan and Doreen Henderson from Truro Foodbank invited to receive the donation and cut a ribbon to declare the store officially re-launched.

Store manager Stuart said: “I am delighted Bob and Doreen were able to visit our improved store to receive the donation. The Foodbank is a greatly important to the community and does fantastic work for local people.”

Bob added: “We are incredibly grateful for Tesco’s generous donation to our cause, the donation is greatly appreciated and will go towards a new van to assist us in moving our food to the different distribution centres we have in Truro and Perranporth.”

The Truro Foodbank is part of a national campaign and provides a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis.

The celebrations will continue in store next weekend when children’s favourite Peppa Pig will be making a special appearance in store on Saturday at regular intervals between 11am and 4pm.

The stores opening hours are now 6am Monday –Midnight Saturday and 10am-4pm on a Sunday.

Well done, Tesco, lets hope you get lots of customers from the publicity of giving to the food bank.
Will you do the same next week? Or will it be monthly?
