The police in Redruth are appealing for witnesses after a young woman was injured as an attempt was made to steal her handbag early on Monday.

The incident took place in Drump Road sometime between midnight and 1am when the 24-year-old woman was approached from behind.

“The offender grabbed her shoulder bag from behind and pulled her backwards to the ground, but she struggled and managed to hold onto her bag before the offender ran off,” said a police spokesman.

During the attempted robbery, the victim suffered a cut below her right eye and cuts and grazes.
