The mayor of Truro officially reopened a city opticians at its new premises during a charity fundraising day last week.

Specsavers welcomed Councillor Lindsay Southcombe in store to cut a cake in celebration of the opening.

The shop, which was previously located across the road, is now open at an expanded site at 33a River Street. Staff celebrated by offering customers refreshments including specially made green and white cupcakes.

A £2 donation from every eye test on the day was made to Children’s Hospice South West and glasses were given a once over or “MOT” in exchange for donations.

Store director Graham Dunn said: “We have been eagerly awaiting the store’s official opening and would like to thank the mayor for helping us to celebrate.

“Our store relocation and expansion, including a new testing room, ensures that our customers will receive the best possible service.”
