Gardeners' Question Time comes to Lizard
3:10pm Wednesday 6th March 2013 in Cornwall
Popular BBC Radio 4 show Gardeners’ Question Time is coming to St Keverne next month.
Gardeners with a burning question about horticulture will be able to quiz experts on air, with the recording then broadcast on Radio 4 a week later.
The visit has been arranged by St Keverne Gardeners’ Society.
Two recordings will take place at St Keverne Parish Hall on April 15, with doors opening at 5.30pm for ticket holders and last admissions at 6.20pm.
Questions can be written in a dedicated space on the ticket and then submitted, with producers choosing the best 11 for the panel of experts to answer.
Due to St Keverne’s distance from London, two editions of the programme will be recorded – the first to be broadcast a week later, on the following Friday at 3pm, and repeated that Sunday at 2pm. The second will then be held over for six weeks, in which a different 11 questions will be answered.
Arrangements were made through Roger Pearce, recently retired chairman of the village society.
He told the Packet: “Everybody I mention it to is quite excited. We have been trying for a little while to have them down here, unsuccessfully, and then suddenly, like a bolt from the blue, they rang me.”
St Keverne Gardeners’ Society members will be given priority to buy tickets, which cost £2.50 each to include free refreshments. The remainder will go on sale this coming Monday, March 11.
There will be around 200 tickets available – the seating capacity in the hall.
