Man suffers serious head injuries in St Austell crash

A 29-year-old St Austell man has suffered serious head injuries in a crash near Grampound.

The casualty was airlifted to Derriford following the incident at around 5.20pm on Saturday, (February 23) on the A390. Emergency services closed the road at the Hewaswater junction for investigation work.

A police spokesman said that a silver Ford Fiesta, travelling towards St Austell, was involved in a head on collision with a silver Vauxhall Astra.

Adding that in addition to the serious injuries sustained by the driver of the Fiesta, two other people also sustained injuries. They were described as being ‘walking wounded’ .

The road as reopened just before 10pm.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the events leading up to it is asked to call the police on 101 quoting log number 0519 220213.
