One person had to be taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation following a house fire in Redruth in the early hours of this morning.

Nine firefighters on two appliances from Redruth called out to tackle a bedroom fire in the bedroom of the home on Seaview Terrace.

Shortly after their arrival at 4:52am crews reported the fire as being ‘well alight’ and requested ‘make pumps two’, a call for more help.

An appliance from Camborne with six firefighters was called to the scene and as a precaution the fire was upgraded to a ‘persons reported’ as firefighteres did not know initially whether there was anyone inside. .

One casualty suffering smoke inhalation was found and taken to hospital via ambulance.

Using two breathing apparatus, one jet and one hose reel firefighters confined the fire to the bedroom area and later confirmed "all persons accounted for". The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

A fire investigation will be carried out later this morning.
