Porthleven thief jailed for dodging electronic tag

A Porthleven woman with a “flagrant disregard for court orders” was jailed this week after failing to get an electronic tag installed.

Alexandra Amy Hodges, of Matela Close, failed without reasonable excuse to comply with the requirements of a community order.

Hodges did not make herself available for the installation of monitoring equipment on November 30 and December 1, Truro Magistrates’ Court heard on Friday.

The 41-year-old had been made subject to the order after she stole £222.70 worth of food from the Tesco in Carbis Bay.

She also stole £60 worth of cosmetics from Boots Chemist in Penzance.

Hodges, who has a history of non-compliance with court orders, the court heard, was committed to prison for six weeks because of her “flagrant disregard for” and “wilful and persistent failure to comply with” community orders.
