Older Truro and Newquay residents can get some top tips on keeping warm this winter and saving money on their energy bills with a charity's open days.

Age UK Cornwall will be running a series of public open days this month with Fuel Poverty Task Group member Donna Darby.

The events will take place at the Truro Day Centre on St Clement Street from 10am until 12pm on January 15 and Newquay Day Centre, Crantock Street, at the same time on January 18.

They aim to offer help, assistance and advice on eligible benefits, as well as providing information on available grants and funding, to assist with broken, faulty or lack of heating.

Free electric blankets will be available for those who meet the criteria and visitors can also bring copies of their energy bills to get advice on switching suppliers.
