Restaurants across Cornwall are supporting a campaign that will benefit the homeless this Christmas.

People who dine out will be asked to add a voluntary £1 donation to their table bill, as part of StreetSmart.

Over 500 restaurants across the country are involved in the StreetSmart campaign with the Cornish contingency led by Bustophers, The Riverbank and Archie Browns in Truro, the Old Quay Inn in Devoran, the Golden Lion in Stithians, Courtyard Deli, the Boathouse and Amanzi in Falmouth, the Waterside in Flushing, Nathan Outlaw’s Seafood & Grill in Rock, Stein’s Cornish Arms in Padstow, Rosewarne Manor in Hayle, Treloyhan Manor in St Ives, Halsetown Inn in Halsetown and Archie Browns in Penzance.

The funds raised by the Cornish restaurants will support St Petroc’s Society, the Cornwall Women’s Refuge Trust and the Cornish branches of Foodbank.

This year the StreetSmart campaign will be given an extra boost, with every £1 donated during December being matched by the Cabinet Office.

StreetSmart provides funding to over 100 charities across the country, all of which strive to get people off the streets and integrated back into society.
