Christmas has come early for one Helston charity-focused choir, who have been practising their festive programme for the past three months.

The Pentyr Singers shared some of their Christmas spirit recently by handing over a cheque for £750 to Cornwall Hospice Care, which will also benefit from the proceeds of the singers' next charity concert at St Michaels Church on December 5.

This year they have chosen to perform the cantata “Night of Miracles,” which tells the story Jesus' birth through song and words. This will make up the first half of their programme and the second half will be a mix of traditional carols, Christmas music and more contemporary arrangements.

Other Pentyr Singers concerts set to take place this year include St Keverne Parish Church on November 28, the Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints, Helston on December 12 and Mullion Methodist Church on December 16 - all starting at 7.30pm.

Nina Sutherland, from the choir, said: “Everyone is welcome to come along to the concerts and join in with some of the carols if you feel like singing. “Come and celebrate the festive season with the Pentyr Singers!”
