TWO people have been rushed to hospital after a fire in Wedmore.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service were called to the scene after reports of a smoke alarm sounding in a property in Blakeway, Wedmore, shortly before 6.30pm yesterday (February 19).
A fire engine from Glastonbury was sent to the scene, and on arrival found a fire on the first floor of the building and called for two further fire crews, which were sent from Street and Wells.
Two people were treated on scene by fire crews for smoke inhalation before being taken to the hospital by ambulance.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire using two breathing apparatus, a thermal imaging camera and a hose reel.
