UP to 400 homes could be built on land off Quantock Road in Wembdon, Bridgwater, it has been revealed. 

Major developer Persimmon Homes Severn Valley has submitted an 'scoping opinion' request for an Environmental Impact Assessment - the preliminary step before putting in a major application.

A spokesman for Persimmon Homes said: "Persimmon Homes Severn Valley will submit an outline planning application in 2018 to Sedgemoor District Council (SDC) for a development at Quantock Road, Bridgwater."

The new residential development will provide between 300 and 400 homes and is allocated in the Sedgemoor District Council Local Plan.

The site includes approximately 12ha of agricultural land with an additional 2.7ha of separate land to the west.

There are also plans for three attenuation ponds with large retained open space to the east of the sie will be preserved while the current public footpaths will be realigned.
There will be a new junction off the A39 to access the site.
