Sweeney Todd at the Warehouse Theatre

THE Ilminster Entertainments Society are busy in the final stages of their preparations ahead of their latest production – Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Written by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler, directed by Philip Wells, with music direction from Lynne Merrifled, the show will be performed at the Warehouse Theatre in Brewery Lane, Ilminster, from October 23-27.

Sondheim tells the tale of Sweeney Todd by balancing horror with comedy through larger than life characters and songs.

This show is about a mass murderer - not really the usual content for a night of comedy and entertainment at the theatre and audiences should be prepared to be shocked and enthralled by equal measure.

Not surprisingly the IES has said that the show is not suitable for young children.

Tickets are available from Lanes Garden Shop in Silver Street, Ilminster, or call 07943-779880.
