Tatworth couple getting on their bikes for charity
1:46pm Tuesday 16th October 2012 in News
A DARING couple are preparing for the journey of a lifetime.
Liz and Peter Rosser will cycle from the source of the River Nile to the spectacular Murchison Falls in Uganda – a gruelling 280 miles.
The money raised by the Tat-worth pair will be used in the East African country to raise standards in schools through the LINK Community Develop-ment.
Ahead of the trip, which begins next Friday, October 26, 64-year-old Peter said: “We’ve both been over there before on a teaching project, so we’ve seen the needs and what’s required in schools.
“We’re very fit and looking forward to it – we’ve already got some idea of what the countryside’s like over there from our past visit.
“The overheads have been paid for by us, so all the money we receive will go into funding teachers, classrooms and that sort of thing.”
Peter, who runs a tutoring business with Liz, 54, expects the journey to last seven days.
They would like to thank everyone who has so far sponsored them, along with Cricket St Thomas Leisure Club for allowing free membership for training, South-West Trains for providing free train travel from Axminster to Woking for their journey to Heathrow, and Sainsbury’s.
