GREMLINS Carnival Club warmed up for Bridgwater’s procession on November 3 by taking the top prize at the Carnival Concerts.
Gremlins’ performance Revolution won the White Hart Cup after scoring the most points during the concerts’ fortnight-long run at the town hall, which ended on Saturday.
It was the club’s third concerts triumph in six years.
Club chairman Andy McLean said: “We were absolutely thrilled with the results last night, and I would like to thank every person who has been involved with this year’s stage performance.
“We now need to turn our focus to the cart and the procession in three weeks time.”
British Flag were runners up with Indian Nation, and Vagabonds were third with Aloha.
Gremlins also won the Millennium Cup for best stage setting, while Ramblers took the Arthur Rainey Cup for best comic act with their Legionaires sketch.
Ashley Quinn, from Griffens, won two trophies - the Reg Dyer Personality Cup for best stage personality, and the Judges’ Cup for best single vocalist. Vagabonds took the Suffragettes Cup for best costume, and dance troupe Best Foot Forward and their We Are Revolting Children performance won the Bert Snook Rose Bowl for best under-17 front of curtain act and the George Bown Cup for best song, dance, musical or novelty act.
Julia McDonald Dance Company won the Starkey Cup for their show, Magical Cats.
Dave Stokes, publicity officer for Bridgwater Carnival Committee, said: “Every year the standard of the concert seems to get better and better, and it is great to know that we have so many talented individuals in Bridgwater.”
He also thanked main event sponsors Gerber Juice Company and Morrisons, and ticket sponsors Somerset Car Sales.
