Straw man destroyed in arson attack Straw man destroyed in arson attack

POLICE are looking for a mean arsonist who destroyed a 20ft straw man designed by an eight-year-old girl.

An appeal has been issued for witnesses after the giant straw creation was destroyed in a fire on Thursday, October 4.

The sculpture had been produced for the North Perrot Farm Shop's annual apple day which is being held this weekend.

A 20ft tall structure made from hay and wood had been erected in the field opposite the farm shop. It had been designed by Millie Dyer, eight, niece of the farm shop owner Jonathan Hoskyns.

Mr Hoskyns said all of the family, especially the children, had been left “devastated” when they heard that the creation had been attacked by arsonists.

A police spokesman said: “We want the public’s help to find the culprit. We believe that someone left the scene in a truck and we’d like anyone who has any information to get in touch.”

People can phone Crimestoppers on 0800-555111 or police on 101.
