TWO drivers have died following a crash in Axbridge on Sunday (October 7).

Police were called to the A371 Axbridge by-pass at around 3am after a BMW and a Peugeot were involved in the accident. The drivers of both vehicles died.

A police spokesman said: “A third man who was travelling in the BMW was taken to the BRI hospital at Bristol with life-threatening injuries. He was later transferred to Frenchay Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

“The A371 was closed to allow a detailed examination of the scene.”

Police would like to hear from anyone who was on the A371 shortly before or at the time of the collision, who may have information.

They would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen a red BMW on the A38 between Brent Island and Cross before the collision happened.
