Ilminster Children's Carnival - today!

ILMINSTER Children's Carnival is all set to take place later today.

Entrants have to be at Ile Youth Club in Frog Lane before 1pm when the judging will take place. The procession sets off at 1.45pm.

The route has been changed this year with the parade going from Ile Youth Club along East Street, Silver Street, Strawberry Bank, down North Street and then back up East Street, before finishing back at the youth club.

Results will be announced at the end of the parade and hot and cold drinks will be available at the club in aid of Ilminster Carnival Committee.

Fair enough having people to supervise crossings at those places.

But can anyone explain why someone has to stand by the crossing by the rec to press the buttons when the schools go in and out?

Parents taking their children to school are quite capable of doing it and at the same time, teach their offspring how to cross safely.
Unaccompanied will children are old enough to press the button themselves.
