Police warning after fake £10 notes seized in Bridgwater
1:00pm Wednesday 26th September 2012 in News
BUSINESSES in Bridgwater are being urged to check their money after counterfeit £10 notes were seized.
A police spokesman said: “Officers arrested a man in the town on Saturday after he was found in possession of the notes.
“A 20-year-old Bridgwater man was later charged with possession of counterfeit currency and possession of cannabis and released on police bail to appear before magistrates in Taunton on October 17.”
Neighbourhood PC Edward Woolmington said: “While counterfeit bank notes are very rare it always pays to be careful.
"I would urge local businesses in particular to routinely check all bank notes they get in payment, as this will act as a deterrent to criminals.
“If you come across a fake you must always tell the police.”
