Cadets on parade

THIRTY-FOUR Air Cadets from No 2381 (Ilminster) Squadron of the Air Training Corps paraded in Ilminster to honour the men of the Royal Air Force’s Fighter Command.

The Squadron marched to the Minster, where a service of thanksgiving was held, before a wreath was laid at the war memorial.

The Squadron’s new banner was blessed and its predecessor lodged in the church for safe keeping as part of the service.

Flight Lieutenant Steve Penny, Officer Commanding 2381 Squadron, said: “The anniversary of the Battle of Britain is very important to the whole of the Royal Air Force family. Our cadets have paraded today to pay their respects to those whose lives were sacrificed to give us the freedom we enjoy today.”
