Chard Folk Dance Club prepare for annual meeting
2:00pm Tuesday 25th September 2012 in News
THE meeting of Chard Folk Dance Club on Thursday, September 6, was the first after the summer break.
The caller, Frances Hilson, chose varied and free-flowing dances with names such as Timber Salvage Reel, Nene Valley, Ted’s triplet No.3, Foula Reel, Postie’s Jig, Holborn Arch, Dasset, Drapers Gardens, Sheehan’s Reel and The Blue Room, new to most of the assembled company, and the more familiar Oklahoma Swing, Grand Square and The Leaving of Liverpool, all ably accompanied by Ivor and Holly.
The usual refreshments were much appreciated and a raffle had more than a dozen prizes. September 27 is a non-dancing evening but nevertheless an important event, the annual meeting, at the same venue, Combe St Nicholas village hall, at 7.30pm. As many members as possible are asked to attend to elect a new secretary and treasurer to replace Peter Dudeney, who resigned at the end of July after holding both posts for many years.
New members are always welcome at a normal dancing evening. The club meets fortnightly on Thursdays at 8pm. For more information contact Christine on 01460-261241 or at christine@johna.globalnet.co.uk
