Party time in Yarcombe after hall work

THE completion of improvement works at the village hall proved the perfect excuse to have a party.

The Jubilee Hall ladies laid on a buffet during an evening for everyone who had helped to finance and support the fundraising needed to complete the project.

The 75-year-old original roof at the Jubilee Hall had stood the test of time but roofer Andrew Hart and fibreglass workers The Arc Angels gave it a much-needed makeover and they attended the party.

Hall committee chairman David Meyrick praised their efforts – especially during the difficult summer weather .

He also thanked everyone who had given grant funding, including Awards for All, East Devon District Council, Devon County Council through Cllr Andrew Moulding, Community Council for Devon and the Blackdown Hills Making it Local group. Yarcombe Parish Council was also thanked for its support.

Hall committee member Clifford Every and his team of Dave Davenport, Matt Stubbington, Ruth Everitt|and Peter Nicholls were congratulated for decorating|the hall.

Several organisations set up displays of their work.

During the party a draw raised £1,750 towards the roof fund. Craft club member Kia Helston of Axminster won the £100 prize.
