TALENTED craftsman Matt Baker is taking part in the finals of a top competition this week.
Joinery student Matt, of Pottery Road, Horton, has qualified for the finals of the SkillBuild 2012 contest after triumphing in the regional heat earlier this year.
Matt, a bench joinery student at Somerset College in Taunton and an apprentice at Ilminster firm A & C Joinery, is looking forward to competing against the best trainees in the country at the national finals in Preston from September 12-14.
The three-day competition, staged by CITB-ConstructionSkills, the Sector Skills Council and Industry Training Board for the construction industry, will see more than 100 talented individuals battle to be crowned best in their field in skills from carpentry and joinery to bricklaying, painting and decorating.
