Safety first at Bishop's Hull Primary School
6:00pm Tuesday 18th September 2012 in News
HEAVEN forbid they ever have to use it, but Bishop’s Hull Primary School now has a piece of equipment similar to that which saved the life of footballer Fabrice Muamba.
It has been given the £3,000 automated external defibrillator as statistics show 270 children a year die at school from Sudden Cardiac Arrest.
Complete Care Training, of The Crescent, in Taunton, donated the kit after hearing only 80 of the 30,000 schools in this country are equipped with life-saving gear.
Managing director Jon Redrup said: “It’s now 81 and it’s our mission to provide as many AEDs as possible and training to schools and other public places in Somerset in the coming years.
“We sincerely hope it never gets used, but if an unfortunate incident should arise, then it will be the best donation we’ve ever made.”
Muamba suffered a heart attack while playing for Bolton in a Premier League match at Spurs last season.
