Kelly sheds 4st 9lb to scoop top award

A MOTHER from Burnham has scooped a prestigious weight loss award after shedding over four stone in a year.

Kelly-Marie French-Bell, 29, lost 4st 9lb after joining Burnham's Slimming World group and has won the district 'Woman of the Year' finals held in Yeovil.

Slimming World trainer Karen Parker encouraged her to enter the finals after Kelly won the group competition at Karen's Burnham class.

Karen said: “After we discovered Kelly was in the criteria for district finals we prepared for the huge event. Kelly stood out and beat 12 more semi finalists.”

Kelly, who began the class after reaching a clothing size of 20/22, added: “It was an amazing day from start to finish and I was presented with a huge basket of flowers and certificates.”

She thanked her friends who encouraged her to join the group, based at the old court house on Jaycroft Road, and described it as the best thing she'd ever done for herself.

She added: “My first week's weight loss was six 1/2 lbs and I was hooked.

“Winning this competition has boosted my confidence and self esteem.”

Slimming World meets every Monday from 10am to 12pm and every Tuesday at 3.30pm, 5.15pm and 7pm.
