Ilminster walk for baby Tilly

FAMILY members put their best feet forward to raise money in memory of baby Tilly Grace Beaumont, who died of a neurological disorder aged just five weeks old.

Tilly died at St George’s Hospital in Tooting, London, in April and now her family are raising money for the hospital which cared for her, a leading national centre for specialist care including neurology, cardiac care and cancer.

Tilly’s aunt, Sian Sainsbury, organised the walk at Ilminster Recreation Ground last weekend in which family members walked a combined 26 miles.

The family has so far raised about £1,300 towards the £2,000 target Tilly’s mum, Kate, needs to run the London Marathon next year.

The ages of the Tilly Toddle entrants ranged from five weeks to over 70 years.

Grandad Jim Sainsbury said: “Star of the show was five-year-old Joseph Sainsbury who completed five laps of the Rec during the day – each in less than nine minutes.”

Jim’s wife, Chris, is hoping to compile a cookery book to raise more funds and samples of cakes from the book were on sale which were soon snapped up by football and cricket spectators at the Recreation Ground.
