New paid foster scheme launched
HELP turn a child’s life around and earn around £400 a week, say council bosses.
Somerset County Council is recruiting people for a new skilled foster care scheme.
The paid scheme aims to help children in care aged seven to 11 who are struggling to deal with life’s pressures and finding it difficult to manage their behaviour to build healthy relationships and succeed.
People with experience of child care, a spare room in their home, free time and a willingness to work with a professional team are needed.
Councillor Frances Nicholson, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: “Foster carers who are committed, patient, skilled and enthusiastic to complete training and join the new scheme are exactly the people we need to make a real difference to children who struggle.”
A ‘drop in’ information evening is being held on Tuesday, September 18, at the Holiday Inn, M5 J25, Taunton between 7 and 9pm.
