THREE staff members from a centre which cares for adults with autism will skydive 13,000ft tomorrow to fundraise for new equipment.

Judith Pearson, Jon Hutchinson and Jade Herbert from Brent Knoll’s Somerset Court will freefall 120mph in a tandem skydive at Devon's Dunkeswell Airfield.

Judith, Senior practitioner of Somerset Court’s Cotswold House, told the Weekly News: “We’re doing it to raise money for the National Autistic Society, but the cash will go to Somerset Court and could provide sensory equipment for residents there."

“None of us have ever done a skydive before. We’ll be strapped to an instructor and we’ll only have 20 minutes of training before the jump. I’m really nervous and I get butterflies thinking of it.

“I did a 10k run for the charity a few years ago but this is more of a challenge.”

The group has thanked people for their support and has been fundraising at the Speedway, Bridgwater Morrison’s, at Tesco’s in Burnham and at the fete on Saturday. They hope to raise about £1,000.

Drop into Somerset Court to donate or call 01278-760555.
